Newcastle Permanent partners with Hunter Rugby to deliver their first ever Youth Diversity event
We recently partnered with Hunter Rugby to help them deliver their inaugural Youth Diversity in Rugby training session, which was a free event for young Rugby players in the Hunter Region, featuring Wallabies great Gary Ella.
We joined Hunter Rugby this year to bring together the Mulubinba Wildfires, Hunter Pasifika and local supporters to celebrate the diverse and inclusive nature of our great game, Rugby Union.
“We’re so proud of the opportunity to come together and for our communities to be recognised and give the younger generations a goal to aspire to,” said Gary Ella.
The event was all about developing important cultural awareness education and skills in young players. The event was open to all players under 17, regardless of skill level.
“What an awesome opportunity for the next generation of players to learn from a legend like Gary Ella – and not just Rugby skills but invaluable life lessons about cultural awareness and diversity,” said our Chief Customer and Product Officer, James Cudmore.
The day started with an Acknowledgement of Country and cultural education session, before a number of rugby drills run by Wallaby great Gary Ella, as well as players from the Mulubinba Wildfires and Newcastle Pasifika.
Over 60 youngsters were in attendance, enjoying the cultural education session, rugby drills and finishing the day with a BBQ lunch.
We were delighted to partner with Hunter Rugby to celebrate diversity in sport, while giving back to our local community.
