Visa Checkout explained

08/08/2019

We look at how it works and some of the benefits it offers.

As a nation, we’re pretty sold on shopping online. Research shows nearly 9.5 million Australians buy something online each year, and how much we shop online is definitely on the rise.

Entertainment and leisure items account for the most online purchases, followed by clothes, food and beverages and books. As time-poor shoppers, it’s a given that we like buying online to be fast and seamless.

That’s part of the reason why Visa created Visa Checkout*, a secure way to pay for your online purchases without having to enter in all your details every time.

How does Visa Checkout work?

Visa Checkout is a simple, streamlined way to pay for items at many online retailers.

Once you sign up and create an account, you save all your credit card details into your profile and can then easily pay for your online purchases by clicking ‘Visa Checkout’.

You’ll be prompted to enter a username and password and the saved details in your account will be used to make the payment.

What are the benefits of signing up to Visa Checkout?

One of the biggest benefits to Visa Checkout is that it works across all your devices – including smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop.

And because you only need a simple login, it’s much easier to zoom through the checkout of an online store instead of having to painstakingly enter in your credit card details and shipping info.

Plus, it doesn’t matter what kind of credit card you have. Visa Checkout is compatible with all major credit and debit cards, and it offers advanced security under the Visa platform to protect your credit card and other details.

You may also be offered discounts and special offers from online stores that accept Visa Checkout.

Who offers Visa Checkout?

There’s a sizeable list of merchants in Australia who offer Visa Checkout, including Telstra, Optus, Ticketek, Pizza Hut , Event Cinemas, Catch of the Day, Harvey Norman, Moshtix,  Webjet, Booktopia, Chemist Warehouse, JB HiFi, Kogan, OzSale, Flight Centre, and Emirates.

The list of merchants is continually growing, too.

How to sign up

Simply go to Visa Checkout and fill in the form to open an account. You’ll be asked to enter in your name, email, address details and your card details in your Visa Checkout account.

Once your account is set up, you can pay for items you purchase online at any online retailer that offers Visa Checkout.
