Newcastle Permanent has been the major sponsor of the Knights Junior Development Program since 2003. The program now reaches more than 60,000 children across the Hunter and Central Coast regions each year through a range of events and activities that promote the benefits of regular physical activity and team building, plus the importance of developing the life skills required to be a winner on and off the field.
The program not only provides specialist training and support for the region's top junior rugby league players, but equally important, it hosts a range of activities and programs for all children aged 5 to 18 years.
As well as providing a base that underpins the depth of the Knight’s football team (only three of the 2003 season first grade squad were not products of this program) the program promotes healthy lifestyle initiatives such as the importance of exercise, how to participate as part of a team and being 'sun smart'.
