About the Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation

A core philosophy of Newcastle Permanent is to support the communities we serve.

It is something we've been doing for more than 100 years - supporting initiatives that benefit the community in areas such as health, education, the arts, the environment, sport and community based projects.

The Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation (Foundation) was launched in August 2004 to enable us to provide funding for causes, initiatives and projects in the Hunter, Central Coast and Mid-North Coast regions that might otherwise not exist or be realised. This community support now extends to our new regions, New England and Northern Rivers.

The Foundation has a dedicated funding pool provided by Newcastle Permanent. Working from that funding base, we use our financial expertise to grow the Foundation and generate an ongoing income stream that will be used to support worthy causes.

It is anticipated that approximately $1million a year will be available for distribution by the Foundation and that this level of support may grow over time.

To date the Foundation has supported more than 170 local community projects from Woy Woy in the south to Lismore and Ballina in the north with grants totalling more than $5.4 million.

The advent of the Foundation does not mean Newcastle Permanent will be reducing existing community support. This work will be in addition to our existing marketing and sponsorship activities and enable the organisation to extend the scope and reach of its support.

The Foundation represents a major commitment by Newcastle Permanent to our community. That is something we are very passionate about.
